Excursion to Assisi and Spello.

If you are in Rome and you like to see something different…..well i can arrange excursions to places like Umbria the region rich in ancient hilltowns and monasteries. In the towns , all built on a human scale ,where time has conserved traditions of the past, you can appreciate the ancient hamlets handful of pink coloured stone and red roofs.

Excursion to Assisi and Spello  (8 hours):

Assisi ,a hill town entrenched on the Monte Subasio home of S.Francis. The excursion include a visit the Basilica of S.Maria degli Angeli with the original chapel of S.Francis, the Roseto located in the valley. Few minutes to drive up the hilltop village of Assisi to see the magnificent church of the Saint.

Spello , village embellished with floral charm. A town on the monte Subasio. A location where Roman and medieval styles mix harmoniously, a visit to the Santa Maria Maggiore church to admire frescos from Pinturicchio. During the feast of Corpus Domini, you can admire the floral decorations, made with fresh petals.

To reach Assisi we drive through the green Umbria country-side region and through several medieval towns like Narni , Todi , Deruta ( famous for terracotta fabrics ). On the way back to Rome we drive trough Spello Foligno , Trevi and Spoleto ( famous for artistic event such as the Festival of the two World ).
